I know we’re two weeks in, but Happy New Year! I’m trying to come up with an overall theme or direction for this blog, but until I can figure something out, I’ll just keep posting a hodge-podge of stuff.
Here’s what I hope to start working on soon:
Bioshock Bunny Splicer
My Secret Santa got me the Eve Hypo and made me a mask to make my own Splicer costume. I have all the components of the costume—mask, dress, etc.—but I’m not finished with anything. So I’m at about 80% right now. I want to have this done for ConNooga so that I can get some cool pictures near the Choo Choo.
Yeah, I planned to do this last year, but it never happened. I’d like to have it for MTAC in April, so I need to get the fabric soon and get busy. The weird garter belt is going to be interesting…
Gwen Cooper, Torchwood
I have some friends who have been trying to get me to do a Gwen costume since I got my hair cut for Cally, and after watching the show, I’ve finally decided to do one. Specifically, her costume from “Countrycide.” Maybe another, if I can find a good black jacket that doesn’t cost me $600. I just love this costume because the jacket is so outrageous and unlike anything else she wears in the series.
If I end up making this, it will be my most ambitious costume to date, and my first costume with armor. Man. I’m going to be sewing a lot of spandex this year.
New Catwoman Suit
My catsuit will be 4 years old this year. It’s definitely time for a new one. I also want to have a new cowl made that is more similar to an aviator-style hat than an over-the-head cowl like the one I have.
I have some other stuff on my tentative list—a few anime costumes, Catwoman from Arkham City, yet another Dr. Girlfriend, and Queen Etheria—but there’s no way I’ll get all of that done. Especially with the bar exam in July. Yikes. And of course I have Abby, which I wore on Halloween, and all my other costumes from previous years. I still haven’t worn my Lawyer Version of She-Hulk.
So Propworx has started auctions for Caprica props and costumes. I love watching these auctions—I tried to bid on some stuff, but mostly I like looking at the pictures and descriptions for reference because everything ends up being much too expensive for me. Anyways, I was looking at the description for Zoe’s Purple Dress, and I was shocked (and a little appalled, to be honest.) As it turns out, that dress was custom-made… out of spandex. And it velcros shut in the back. (Seriously guys–VELCRO?!) Suddenly, that costume just got a WHOLE lot easier. 😉 I don’t know if I’ll make it, but it’s still sort-of on my list. I mean, I’ll be growing my hair out for Gwen… it would be the perfect time to do a Zoe costume…. ^_^
